The sun makes up around 99 percent of the mass of our solar system
Earth, all the other planets, asteroids, meteors, comets and the huge quantities of interplanetary dust that orbit around the Sun would take up a lot of space, however, our home star contains more than 99% of the mass of the entire solar system. The energy coming from the Sun – in the form of light, heat – makes life possible on Earth. For instance, photosynthesis, heat and favorable climate are important elements that keep us alive.
