Shellac is made from insect excrements

This product is widely used for wood finishes or as a glaze for different types of candies. Believe it or not, it is actually a secretion produced by the female Kerria lacca insect. In other words, shellac is a glaze made from bug excrements and we literally eat it. So, choose your desert carefully if you want to stay away from these substances.
