Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States – from 1861 until his assassination in 1865.
Many people consider Abraham Lincoln one of the most important presidents in American history. He was admired and respected by many citizens.
Apart from his many achievements, Abraham Lincoln was also known for his amazing beard, but did you know that he grew his beard after listening to the advice of an 11-year-old girl? His impressive facial hair was not that popular before reading a letter from a little girl named Grace Bedell. He always shaved his beard until he read the fascinating letter.
So, Grace Bedell wrote to the president that “If you will let your whiskers grow I will try and get (my brothers) to vote for you. You would look a great deal better for your face is so thin. All the ladies like whiskers and they would tease their husbands to vote for you and then you would be president. Having never worn any whiskers, do you not think people would call it a piece of silly affection if I were to begin.” And after a few weeks, the president grew his beautiful beard.
