9. Jumbo Stay – Sweden
Much like our earlier entry with a stay on a cruise ship that doesn’t sail, how about a round trip to nowhere with this Jumbo Jet? This unique hostel was built inside a decommissioned airplane, the Boeing 747-200 and located near Arlanda Airport in Stockholm, Sweden.
It opened in January 2009 after extensive refurbishments had removed all essential machinery from the interior, and they have made good use of the remaining shell.
Housing 33 rooms with most four beds in each, along with a more expensive and luxurious “cockpit suite” located on the upper deck, the hostel holds a total of 76 beds. It also features smaller rooms in the engines and in the wheelhouses.
