The Acheron, Greece

The Acheron, as it’s known from the Greek mythology, is a river that still flows in the northern part of Greece called the River of Woe. The Greeks believed that the river hides a few gates that lead to evil gods. In ‘Inferno’ written by Dante, for instance, the river is described as a waiting room for the souls who were going to be judged.
