Paul McCartney actually appears in one of the episodes of the show. The Simpsons staff chose the artist because it was the episode when Lisa became a vegetarian. Paul agreed under one condition: that Lisa remained a vegetarian for as long as the show would go on. And so it happened! This is one of the very few character features that remained unchainged over the years.
