Many medical experts consider red meat (as well as processed meat) a possible carcinogen that increases your risk of developing certain types of cancer. In 2015, the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed this hypothesis. The WHO concluded that processed meat is carcinogenic, while red meat is probably a carcinogen.

Processed meat is a process by which the meat undergoes certain changes in taste or appearance, such as salting, curing, fermentation, smoking and so on. The most common processed products include sausages, ham, and hot dogs. Nevertheless, recent studies have shown that red meat leads to bowel (colorectal) cancer.
