Cholesterol is a substance produced by your liver that can be found in all the cells in your body. It can also be found in certain foods, such as meat, dairy products and so on. Of course, your body needs this substance to work properly.
There are two types of cholesterol, namely LDL (also known as bad) cholesterol and HDL (also known as good) cholesterol. However, too much ‘bad’ cholesterol in your blood will increase your risk of coronary artery disease and other cardiovascular diseases, as well as type 2 diabetes. (see more on the next page)
