Overmixing the pancake batter
One of the most consumed recipes in the morning is pancakes. Besides being very healthy, they are also extraordinarily delicious. So if you don’t have any breakfast ideas, pancakes might be a good option. There are several recipes, with different types of flour, ingredients or toppings, but we think that whatever you choose, you should include some fresh fruit as well.
Additionally, one of the biggest mistakes that you should stop doing is overmixing the pancake batter. This batter has flour and if you excessively mix it you will activate the gluten – and of course, gluten is bad for your health, especially if you suffer from celiac disease or have an intolerance.
“Pancake batter has flour, and overmixing it can cause the gluten to activate,” says Patel. So, if you want to obtain fluffy pancakes, you have to mix the batter until ingredients are combined and when you are adding leaveners you should let the batter rest for a few minutes before cooking.
When it comes to toppings, you should opt for maple syrup, because the average syrup contains artificial ingredients and flavoring that could adversely affect your health. “There’s no comparison between the two,” says Patel.
