Walmart

In October 2016, a woman from Utah gave birth while she went to Walmart to buy a few necessities. After choosing their items, the woman and her husband went through the checkout point to pay them. She said that she started to feel pains, but she insisted to pay for their groceries first. After a few minutes, she realized that she was in labor, but couldn’t get to the emergency service in time to help her deliver the baby. So, she ended up giving birth at Walmart.

The birth took place successfully, she delivered a healthy boy, and then they were taken to the hospital. The store managers and employees decided to give gifts to the new mother, such as diapers, formula, and cakes, and even organized a baby shower.

Other births in Walmart took place in Kansas, Georgia, Colorado, Oklahoma, North Dakota, Indiana, Quebec and New York.

McDonald’s

Well, two months later, a similar event took place at McDonald’s in Florida. In December 2016, Sean Jordan and his expecting wife, Cathy, went to McDonald’s to have breakfast with their two year old son on a Saturday morning. Of course, Cathy wanted to enjoy the most important meal of the day with her family and didn’t expect to experience sudden labor in the bathroom while waiting for the food to be ready. Her husband immediately sought help, and April Jones, a nurse who worked with the elderly and was there to have breakfast with her mother, offered to help Cathy.

April tried her best to help Cathy deliver the baby, but the umbilical cord had impeded the baby from breathing. April managed to turn the baby so as not to suffocate him and loosen the cord, but the baby was still blue – a sign that he could not breathe. Meanwhile, paramedics arrived there and they cut the cord, which allowed the baby to receive oxygen. They took the mother and baby to the hospital where they were safe. April was allowed to see them and was really happy that she managed to help Cathy. After this event, April decided to become a registered nurse and work in labor and delivery.
