Henry Winkler
- Learning disabilities: dyslexia and dyscalculia
Henry Winkler is an American actor, director, and producer, best known for his role as Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli in the sitcom Happy Days (1974–1984). This role earned him two Golden Globe Awards and three Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
Winkler said that he was anxious as a child due to his undiagnosed dyslexia and dyscalculia, and he was usually considered “slow minded and stupid”. Unfortunately, his family didn’t understand his problems with dyscalculia (difficulty learning and understanding math), so his father often called him a “dumb dog” in German and punished him for his difficulties in school.
