Alan Rickman

Alan Rickman was an English actor and director. His first film role was in Die Hard (1988), but soon after, he starred in numerous films, including Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991) – for which he received the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role; Quigley Down Under (1990); Truly, Madly, Deeply (1990); An Awfully Big Adventure (1995), to name a few.

However, his breakthrough role was in the BBC television adaptation of The Barchester Chronicles (1982). His role in Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny (1996), earned him a Golden Globe Award, an Emmy Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Unfortunately, in 2016, the actor died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 69. He died after finishing production on Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016) and Eye in the Sky (2016).
