Gary Coleman
Gary Coleman was an American actor, comedian and writer who received numerous accolades throughout his career, including four People’s Choice Awards and two Young Artist Awards. He was regarded as one of the greatest kid stars in the world, as well as one of the highest paid child actors of the 1980s.
He starred in numerous films, such as On the Right Track (1981) – his film debut, Jimmy the Kid (1982), The Kid with the Broken Halo (1982), Dirty Work (1998), An American Carol (2008), Midgets vs. Mascots (2009), to name a few. His role in the sitcom Diff’rent Strokes (1978–1986) brought him even more fame.
He not only dealt with health issues and financial problems, but in a 1993 interview, Coleman said he had twice attempted suicide by overdosing on pills. Coleman won about $1.3 million in 1993, after suing his adoptive parents and former business advisor for misappropriating his wealth. Unfortunately, he went bankrupt after a decade and before he died, he had almost no money left.
