Emily Dickinson 

Emily Dickinson was an American poetNowadays, she is still considered one of the most important figures in American poetry. Even though she was considered an eccentric girl by her neighbors, she lived mostly isolated.  

Many of her works weren’t made public until after her death in 1886. Although Emily told her younger sister, Lavinia, to burn her papers, she did not listen to her wish. Thus, Lavinia made Emily’s poems public when she found about 40 notebooks and loose sheets gathered in a locked chest.   

However, it seems that our talented poet died poor, but the college where she studied for seven years, namely Amherst Academy, bought her family’s house and turned it into a museum
