Carrie Fisher
Carrie Fisher was an American actress who portrayed Princess Leia in the Star Wars films. This role earned her four Saturn Awards. For her performances on the television series 30 Rock and Catastrophe, the actress was nominated twice for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.
In 2016, the actress died of a sudden cardiac arrest. After her death, three films were released, namely, Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017), Have a Good Trip: Adventures in Psychedelics (2020), and Wonderwell (2021).
According to the media, Fisher had cocaine in her system, as well as traces of heroin and other drugs. The doctors said they couldn’t determine when she took the drugs or whether they contributed to her death.
Her daughter, Billie Lourd said that her mother “battled drug addiction and mental illness her entire life. She ultimately died of it. She was purposefully open in all of her work about the social stigmas surrounding these diseases… I know my Mom, she’d want her death to encourage people to be open about their struggles.”
